ASELIS held the 3rd season of English Camp on Saturday and Sunday, 15th-16th of October 2016 with a theme “Unity and Solidarity in English Letters Family”. This event took location in Desa Wisata Pulesari, Sleman, within 161 participants of the first-year students of English Literature UAD. To celebrate this event, ASELIS also invited English Literature lecturer, Mr. Muhammad Hafiz Kurniawan and two students from fifth semester to entertain the participants with their music.
The students were divided into 12 teams, with variety colours as the name of their teams. In the night show, each team gave their interesting performance. Also, they had their own unique yel-yel. Before the closing event, the committees would give rewards for three categories; which are best yel-yel, best team, ad best performance. Also, the Queen and the King of English Camp would be announced in the end of the program.
The participants were gathered in Campus 2 UAD unit B in Sargede on 15th of October, 9:00 a.m. After having guidance from the committee, they went to the location by bus at 09:30 a.m. After they arrived and had a rest in their homestays, at 2:00 p.m., the committees held an opening in pendopo, and continued with leadership training program by Mr. M. Hafiz Kurniawan, S.S. He did some games to the participants to gain their leadership aspect in their own character. This event ended at 5:00 p.m then continued with break time (praying and having dinner). The main activity of this event was the musical show from the participants. It presented various shows that were interesting and entertaining. In final, our musician friends closed the show by giving their best performances.
The next morning, after praying, the participants joined morning exercises at 6:00 a.m. and continued by having breakfast. The next activity was the outbound in the river, filled by variousgames that had been set by the commitees. Not only the games in the river, but also dodge ball games after that cheerised the participants. They looked happy while playing this games together with the commitees and the lecturer. In the end of English Camp event, the commitees announced some awards of the contest to the participants and they were allowed to give their comments and critics about the progress of the event. At 1:00 p.m. the English Camp event was dispersed and all the participants went back to campus 2 UAD.
ASELIS extends gratitude towards all students who participated in English Camp 2016. We can build our unity and solidarity in our English Letters family. We also thanks to the committees who successfully prepared the agenda. We proud to be English Letters students!
